DIVINE ENCOUNTER is a conflict, it is a frictional encounter with God; it leaves some better and for some it destroys. For others like Pharaoh, the king of Egypt in the time of Moses, it was a peril; and for others like Jacob the supplanter, it ended for him with a medical condition. Jacob just as his name suggest, once a cheat always a cheat. It was his double-acting character that took the attention of God, and ithis resulted to him having a hip dislocation from his struggle with God. If God has to promote you, He will first deal with your character; it is character that will give your the characteristics for greatness. This is the purpose of the encounter. Many Christians have charisma and not character, many preachers get along with charisma and have no character. Many homes of christians today are being dissolved because both the husband and wife married for the wrong reasons, and since they have no good character to sustain their marriages, the devil was given a foothold and this culminates in the divorce of their once celebrated societal wedding. What would have happened to the home and marriage, had they prayed for a divine encounter for their problem and follow it through? Patience is a virtue, it is also part of the character building blocks we all stand to enjoy in our divine encounter with God. Build good character and not just charisma, engage in a serious walk with God and you will be left with a rich and prosperous character of God. If the people we know as christians in our churches and neighbourhoods are really practising what is preached, if we as believers have had an encounter with God in the past, definitely we could have made lives of people better- but not. Our churches, individuals, families, governments; we all need a divine encounter. It is by divine encounter that the true life of Christ can be experienced, not by charisma but by divine encounter that genuine christlikeness can be birth. This is our month of divine encounter in which we pray God that is in us, God that is through us and God that is around us; will help us change our environments for good and to lead many to start living for God in our lands ; it is true that judgment shall begin from us, the church and from any one who calls himself a christian; we all have roles to play, work to do before Christ comes back.
